There is always a delicate balance that must yield to a force overcoming its opposite; the positive tends to consume the negative if the model is calibrated a certain way, and the inverse is made true once it is brought into expression. There is, however, always a light that emanates from the interstice, one that reveals no bias, one that produces a rapturous harmony. This is what is made manifest in Aries’s Olive, a three-song suite that blends organic and electronic sounds, circumscribing one within the other, capturing the ebb of flow of luminosity and shade, exploring distance by pulling closer, depicting distress by evoking bliss, and expressing anger by calling upon peace. Aries allows the interplay of opposites to inform, contradict, and enrich each other, working toward an intricate fabric of sounds and textures, finding points of intersection and dancing around them.

Buwan-Buwan is a traditional Filipino game that enacts the lunar eclipse. Players draw a circle on the ground representing the moon, and must stay inside this circle. Meanwhile, one player acts as the Bakunawa, the mythical giant sea serpent who would eat the moon: he may not enter the circle, but must touch another player who is inside it in order to switch places.
