The names of things are mutable, and the linkages that bind disparate objects together are always imagined. Think of the arbitrary assignation of signs to the things which they allegedly refer to or the convulsive beauty of a chance encounter; there is no tangible thread that is drawn between partial entities that exist in the external world, yet distance from one object or subject to the next collapses when passing through interior operations that reassess and reassemble that which is perceived to be whole. Only then are these distinct bodies imbued with meaning. There is an intrinsic tendency to construe separate, self-contained units as a series of temporary transversal relations, things coupled to other things, events grafted onto other events, perceiving drift as substance, transfiguring connection to significance.

Music tends to flatten the fuzzy material that traverses both time and space, allowing the particles that float freely in the atmosphere to slide against one another, producing worlds built on affinities or worlding production based on associations. BuwanBuwan Collective’s 4K compilation features a set of collaborative work that configures coming together as the site of creation, adjustment and recalibration as the locus from which new and variable viewpoints arise. This provides as venue for the exploration of the potential energy that emanates from the meeting of minds, the practice of apophenia, appellation, and assignation in an environment that permits exploration, expedition, and experimentation.

Buwan-Buwan is a traditional Filipino game that enacts the lunar eclipse. Players draw a circle on the ground representing the moon, and must stay inside this circle. Meanwhile, one player acts as the Bakunawa, the mythical giant sea serpent who would eat the moon: he may not enter the circle, but must touch another player who is inside it in order to switch places.
